Raise your hand if you haven’t fought a winter bug or don’t know anyone that has.
I thought so.
Due to visits to the doc, and Charlotte ending up in the hospital last week, I’ve learned a lot about what is hitting us all.
First, most of us aren’t getting the flu. We are getting different viral strains. Some may become bacterial infections but if you got a flu shot, you probably are safe from the flu.
Second, if you see a doc, make sure he/she swabs your nose for determining what you have. Don’t let them guess.
We got hit with RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). It’s the most common virus. But it can be deadly to babies and those over 65.
Spent most of January sick. Two weeks of health. And sick again rest of February. Sinuses have made it impossible to smoke; let alone write a review. Muscle aches and fatigue are the double cherries on top of the sundae.
Charlotte has COPD, and for anyone with other health issues, the virus can hit harder than the rest of us that are relatively healthy. So, she is still recovering and it’s a slow go. Nothing that hundreds of dollars for medications can’t cure.
Now my horror story.
It is cold in Wisconsin.
I need to open windows to smoke. I can’t in the current clime.
We will wake up on Monday, March 4, to -25 degrees. And it will follow suit for the next week or so.
There is no way possible to open windows…and survive.
Therefore, sometime around mid-March, we should see balmy temps in the low 40’s and I will get back to work. I have a bunch of sticks slowly cooking and marinating in my humidor begging to be reviewed.
I’ve gotten so many emails from you guys, throughout the country, telling me how sick you or your family is. And how the bug seems to go away but then returns with extreme prejudice. Welcome to the cabal.
Feel better, be well, live long and prosper.
