Another guest review by Calvin Kushman.
I took a short hiatus from writing. I would love to tell you about awesome adventures that I embarked over the past month but the only thing I’ve been doing is playing Battlefield 1 and smoke weed. Not necessarily in that order. Today we will try yet another awesome strain, Lemon Haze.
PROLOGUE:
I’m using my new glass pipe for this review. It’s a nice one. I’m quite enthusiastic about it. Even though it’s lightly raining in certain parts of the city, I decided to take a drive to a park on the other side of town. Since it’s a cloudy day, there shouldn’t be very many people there. I remember getting beer with my friends and drinking at local parks. Acting stupid and loud until the cops chased us away.
AROMAS:
From the open bag, I smell lemon pledge and herbs. Yes, that’s about it. I want to say there’s a sweet tone hidden somewhere because that sounds more interesting but there’s really not.
THE PROCESS:
The fucking wind seems to be stronger on this side of town. It’s making me angry as I try to light the bowl. I finally get a half puff. Wow! That really did taste like lemon pledge! I remember seeing someone huff a lemon pledge can and he got really sick from it. But he was a dumbass so oh well. Wait, was it me? No.
It’s incredibly shitty to smoke outside today. My lighter flame keeps going out and it’s difficult to block the wind. Phil told me about a pipe that lights itself. Called a Wiki pipe or something. If only I had one of those right now, all my problems would be solved. (The WickiePipe Lighter review will follow later today – Phil)
EFFECTS:
Okay, I’ve taken two hits and there’s a slight buzzing sensation going on in the back of my head and around my shoulders and torso.
I take two more hits. Taking two hits requires me to flick my lighter 12 times. I decide to go back to my car. Fuck, why can’t something cool happen when I go out to smoke? A sudden thought flashes through my mind. “Be careful of what you wish for…”
EFFECTS 2.0
After taking another 5 hits, the bowl is ashes now and although I am high, the desired intensity isn’t all there yet. I found a new lighter deep in my pocket. I decide to wait until I get home to light up. Driving at 5mph usually alerts the cops.
Then I can get on Xbox live and play Battlefield 1 again! I haven’t played at all today and I’m starting to get a bit shaky in my body movements. This lemon haze is quite a solid sativa strain. I can feel energy flowing through my veins and I am anxious and excited as I contemplate deeply about early 20th century warfare. What if the Ottomans had won? Would things be different today? So many ideas flash through my head at ultra-fast speeds.
EPILOGUE:
As I get back on the freeway during rush hour, I find myself in bumper to bumper traffic. Its going to be a long drive home. I have plenty of time to theorize. I look forward to smoking another bowl when I get home!!
Strain Highlights from leafly.com:
“Lemon Haze has been characterized as smelling of fresh peeled lemon slices with a similar taste. Its buds appear to be green and yellow with amber hairs on the trichomes, giving it the yellow tint. This strain’s THC has been measured at about 15-20% with a CBD of 0.38%.”
From Wikileaf.com:
“Energetic and social, this strain can be great daytime medication for eliminating fatigue, anxiety and stress. The mood elevating properties of Lemon Haze may also help regulate mood disorders, such as chronic depression, PTSD and/or anxiety. This strain may help patients dealing with minor pains, nausea and appetite loss. It may also help patients overcome ADD/ADHD and migraines.”

Left to right….Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid:
From Green Doctor Network:
Cannabis Sativa:
“Sativa strain types are known to produce an uplifting and cerebral high that is typically very energizing and stimulating. Sativa are known to make you laugh uncontrollably or engage in in-depth conversations about the meaning of life. These strains typically cause you to analyze the human experience and think creatively, which makes Cannabis Sativa very popular among philosophers, artists and musicians. Some Sativa have even been found to enhance lights and sounds, making music, movies, and the rest of your surroundings more vibrant than ever before.”
Cannabis Indica:
“The effects produced by Indica strain types are very relaxing and narcotic-like, typically providing a full-body, or “couch-locked” effect. Indica are perfect for those days spent curled up on the couch watching TV, or surfing the web. However, most people use Cannabis Indica after a long day at work to relieve stress, provide full-body pain relief, and help them fall asleep at night.
“Indica strains are ideal for chronic pain, muscle spasms, anxiety, nausea, appetite stimulation, and sleep deprivation. Individuals who suffer from diseases like multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, lupus, sleep apnea and insomnia tend to benefit from the effects of Cannabis Indica.”
Hybrids:
“There are a wide range of cannabis strains in between Indica and Sativa. These strains are known as “Hybrids” and show traits directly related to the genetics in its lineage. Hybrids can be broken down into three basic categories:
1). “Sativa-dominant Hybrids: Cerebral high with a relaxing body effect. Provides physical and mental relief.
2). “Even Hybrids (50/50): Ideal strains for people seeking a perfect balance of head and body.
3). “Indica-dominant Hybrids: These strains provide a full-body pain relief, with a relaxing head high. Recommended for nighttime use to go to sleep, or daytime relief from minor pain. These strains are perfect for patients who suffer from all types of autoimmune diseases as well as insomnia or depression.”
According to Popular Science:
“If you’re an adult who has smoked marijuana in the past year, you’re one of about 30 million Americans who has done so, according to a new survey by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). That’s 9.5% of our population.”
THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION TO CONSUME ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES. I am simply trying to educate and shine the light on the medical uses for marijuana. We currently have 25 states that allow legal weed dispensaries in the United States. There is a lot of enlightenment in not only those states…but the other 25 who make it a misdemeanor to a felony for possession. If you choose to use medical marijuana, please do all the research you can before deciding on what is best for you.
